Bagheera
Bagheera has now found a forever home. He is settling in well and from the pictures is enjoying having cuddles with his new owner. We are so happy that he was given a chance to show the friendly side of him.
Ying and Yang
Ying and yang has found themselves an amazing home, where they receive as many stokes and hugs they need. As you can see from the pictures they are super happy.
Joseph
This is Joseph. First photo shows how bad Joseph used to look. Joseph was poorly before he came to us with a terrible coat, now look how much better he looks. He is now fit and well again he’s landed himself the purrfect home locally.
Marmaduke
Marmaduke came to us as a stray who was looking for a home. With a little help from us he has now found his forever home. We are so happy to see him so content and is living his life like a prince.
Boris
We are so pleased to be able to say Boris has found his dream home. Boris was with us for 8-9 months due to his medical needs but he has finally found the right person who accepted him for who he is. He is now living his life in luxury getting all the attention and love that he needs.
George
George went to an amazing home recently and we are so glad he has settled in well and is living his best life.
Dotty and Dolly
Its so lovely to see out little kittens settling in well into their new homes. They are definitely the life of luxury.
ZEKE AND EBONY
When Zeke and Ebony came to us they were very shy and did'nt want strokes or attention, they just kept to themselves. A lovely family came along and adopted Zeke and ebony which have now been renamed and have given them the best possible home. They have now come out of their shells and will sit on their laps and demand attention. They have become such loving cats and have even ventured out into the garden and have met the neighbours cats- who they are very fond of.
MURPHY
Murphy (formerly known as Mariposa) has been given a home by the same lovely person who adopted Blanca (see below), so this is a doubly happy story and it looks as though they are all getting on brilliantly!
WINSTON
It's great to see these fantastic pictures of Winston (formerly known as Winter) enjoying his new life in his forever home - he is so well loved and photogenic that he even has his own Instagram account for all his adoring fans!
LILY
"Hi Kim and Susie and all my friends,
Well I've had an exciting few days in my new home here in Wales. I love it here and my Mummy's lap is nice and warm and cosy and where I love to snuggle up...although here in Wales my Mummy says a snuggle is called a 'cwtch' and I love to 'cwtch'.
I've discovered too that a Daddy isn't so bad either. I used to run and hide when he came into the room as I've never seen a Daddy before, but he feeds me and let's me rub my chin on his slippers and I think he will do just fine.
I've got loads of new toys and I'm showing Mummy and Daddy how clever I am at chasing and pouncing. My scratching of the conservatory furniture has even got me a new scratching post too....so I must be really good at it.
I've got a new bed too...I sat in it once, but Mummy's lap is way more comfortable and she gives me kisses too, so I've decided I prefer that. I currently have Mummy under 'couch arrest' and am cwtched up on my blanky on her lap dreaming of what exciting adventures tomorrow will bring.
Purrrrrrrrfect!!!!

BLANCA
"Hello!
I know it's early days. Only 24h since I got Blanca, but she has settled in much better than I ever imagined! (So far) She is soft and gentle and craves love (and nibble treats!)
She loved her new home from the start, after opening the cat carrier, she both roamed around and came over to me for purrs and cuddles every 5min. She hid under a piece of furniture when I had to nip out for 5 minutes. But as soon as I came back she was between my legs all day long. Early in the day yesterday, we also went over the process of setting her food bowls with food and water together and also the litter tray together so she would see where it all would be and that is hers and she has been very clean using it all. Such a lady!
And she is so gentle! My other half is in love with her. She has already claimed a sofa spot and started sleeping there last night. Although we let our bedroom door ajar in case she felt lonely. And early morning she came and slept on the duvet purring like there's no tomorrow.
She is a totally different cat to what I saw in the cattery. And I am pleased that she looks so happy so quickly."

PRINCESS
"Hi! Princess has settled in really well. Frank (Hancock) didn't like her at first, he used to hiss at her and give her dirty looks! But now they're best of friends. They love playing and chasing each other about."
SMUDGE AND STITCH
It's not too much of a stretch to say that all we at the shelter really want for Christmas is to see happily re-homed kitty cats and the proud new family to these two gorgeous boys really made our day with this festive feel-good news. (Plus, the first photo of Smudge looking incredibly relaxed is priceless...!) :
"Smudge and Stitch have settled in really well to their new home and our children love them. Smudge loves exploring the garden and Stitch loves sleeping on the sofa in the warmth! It's lovely seeing them settle in so well and we can't wait for our first Christmas with them! Thank you Country Hill x"

MONTSERRAT
We were thrilled and grateful to hear from Montie's new family about her life since leaving the shelter, sent along with some some illustrative photos:
"Montserrat is settling into her new home and combines being mistress of about an acre of land (and playing with two 11 year old boys!) with getting very comfy in front of the fire too!"

ALFIE AND BOO
Alfie and Boo (previously Mandela and Clover) were successfully re-homed back in the spring of 2016 and their new owner very kindly sent us an update on their situation recently. It is such a beautifully written and heartwarming story that we just wanted to share the original piece in it's entirety:
"Hello,
I thought I'd update you on Mandela and Clover, now called Alfie and Boo. They are both doing remarkably well considering their difficult past.
When I decided to have Alfie, I wanted another cat but couldn't decide who to choose. Someone at the cattery suggested that I had the cat that was sharing a pen with Alfie. I had been in Alfie's pen 3 times and didn't even realise another cat was in there with him. So I decided to take her despite not having seen or met her.
As soon as Alfie arrived at the house, he knew that he was "home" immediately. He ran around the house looking in every room, corner and cupboard, jumped on the bed and started padding and purring, looking like he was in cat heaven. Alfie is a real homeboy who loves company, particularly men, and can't resist a fuss. Considering he was at Country Hill for so long (3 years I think), he's settled in well, established his territory, and doesn't really wonder far from the garden. He loves to great me in the evening when I return from work, with a chirrup and friendly rub abound my legs. He's a perfect gentleman. Nothing pleases him more than curling up on my lap at night for a fuss and cuddle.
Boo had a difficult start coming from a house with a large number of cats. It's clear that she wasn't socialised and didn't know how to behave around people, and didn't have any manners. When she arrived she was so scared she spent 3 days under a bookcase. Then she would only come out at night when I was asleep. It took about a month before I she was brave enough to come out and for me to meet her. Boo is now doing amazingly well. I called her Boo because she was so timid, but I think it could now be short for Boudicca! She is so confident, she charges around the house and garden, loves being outside, and chases off any cat who comes near. She loves nothing better than playing with feathers and carrying them around the house, or chasing butterflies and flies.
Boo and Alfie are inseparable, they play together, chase each other, and snuggle up together at night. It's been a real privilege to re-home two adorable cats who have had such a difficult life. They have found their forever home and couldn't be happier."

KITTY
In a happy turn of events Kitty's previous owner's circumstances changed and they were able to re-home him, so old friends were re-united in the end! We have been sent some great pictures of him playing his favourite game involving shoe-laces, and just chilling.
PEPE AND CHICO

It's a great pleasure to announce that Pepe and Chico have been happily re-homed and we have been sent a fantastic picture to prove it! These two beautiful boys certainly look like they have been welcomed into a lovely, comfortable new home.
GRACE
"Bonjour,
My name is Grace, although I was called Crumble when I came to live at Country Hill, and this is just to update all you lovely folks at the cattery about my new life chez Beaumont.
For those of you who do not remember me I was born in La Belle France, however, I really do not remember very much about that time, I was very young after all.
One very wet and miserable day in December a rather odd person came to the cattery where my friends and I lived, she knelt on the floor and tried to talk to us, I was scared, my friends were bolder. A few days later she came back with a box and before I knew it I was in the back of the car and off.
The journey was short but still I was travel sick, yuck! Such strange sights and smells greeted me when we arrived, I was very scared. First new smell when I arrived turned out to be another cat, a little bigger than me and a boy, but boys do not scare me, he spat, I spat back! He is called Casper and it turns out I am to share my sleeping quarters with him, well really, we hardly know each other. Next new smell turned out to be - mon dieu – Dog, I spat at him too. The man and woman keep us apart, but I can smell him, what is this all about, I want to go home.
My first days at this new place are very exciting, so many things to see and do - climbing up onto the kitchen units, I am not as good as Casper – yet! I like the music, I don’t like the hoover, the washing machine is ok till it spins and moves, we can both see that outside looks interesting, can’t wait to try it.
It seems I have very bad manners when it comes to eating, the woman I now know as Mum says I need to learn that there will always be food for me, so one day she keeps feeding me until I stop. I was full to bursting, but do you know I never stole from Casper or scratched again.
After a few weeks of being frightened of everything and everybody I find I quite like this new place. When Mum sits at her computer thingy, she says she is trying to do something called work, it is fun to distract her or sit on her lap. In the evenings we all sit in the big room with the very warm fire, I am not allowed near this, this is where dog sits, Casper sits in a most ungainly fashion by Dad, I sit in a ladylike way on Mum, do you know I think I may just stay here now. After all Casper and me are starting to have some great adventures, he caught a bird, Mum and Dad were not pleased, I caught a mouse and they seemed quite pleased with this...
I can’t wait for the summer and to be out and about much more. The only downside to my new life is that very soon I will have forgotten how to speak French and become Devonian, just like Casper – sacre bleu!"

We are very pleased to announce that Maia has been living at her new home for a few weeks now and is already settling in wonderfully well by all accounts. Her new family tell us that she's grown in confidence measurably and now enjoys playing with the children and has made friends with the two other cats that she shares the home with.
We are grateful to her family for sending these fantastic photographs of her looking so healthy and happy!

JERRY
It has been a year since Jerry was happily re-homed. His new home has informed us that he is doing remarkably well and they say - "he's very loving and extremely vociferous if he wants me to do something at once!"
They have daily cuddles and he loves his cosy doughnut to relax in.

HANCOCK
He came to us in October 2014 and with his beautiful and bubbly personality went on to be a part of a loving family rather quickly, only two months later! He definitely kept us all entertained here at Country Hill so it was lovely to see these photos in which he looks like he is doing so with his new family. They have informed us that he is doing extremely well and settled in straight away, as the photos show.

SMUDGE
He was brought to us by South Hams District Council in August 2014 due to his owner sadly passing away. He was such a loveable independent cat that had a caring character. He was loved very much here at Country Hill and loved even more now by his new family! They have let us know that he has settled and loves snuggling up on the end of their beds, everyone is very happy.

PICKLES
She moved to Country Hill late 2014, she was a gorgeous girlie with a strong character, she stayed with us until October 2014 and we are thrilled to hear that she is getting on so well in her new home. Her new family came in to let us know that she is loved and adored and all is well. Here are some snap shots of just how cosy and relaxed she is now.

TREACLE
He arrived at Country Hill in August 2014. The trouble working with these adorable cats is that you fall in love with them all easily; but as soon as treacle moved here in August 2014 one staff member was smitten with his adorable caring nature and was able to provide a home for him straight away in September.
Treacle is doing really well in his new home and we hear of his progress daily and the love and affection he is giving and receiving. His new family tell us that he is a very cuddly cat who loves to snuggle up in bed with them most of the time, as is shown in these lovely photos.
HERMIONE & MILO
They moved to Country Hill in March 2014. The staff here absolutely adored them and their loving personalities. They were a lovely pair and great partners in crime for their cheeky antics. They moved to a local elderly home in November 2014 and are doing extremely well, keeping everyone entertained and sharing their love. We are all highly pleased for them both that everyone is happy.

SUZIE
She is such a lovable cat, who caught the eye of a member of staff here at Country Hill and has happily moved in with them, we are informed that they are all very happy and Suzie has settled in quickly, now a happy, relaxed cat. She gets lots of cuddles and definitely enjoys being fussed over!
